Fajr Music Festival

The 26th Fajr International Music Festival wrapped up on Sunday evening by announcing the winners in the different sections during a ceremony held at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

A group of Iranian bands and six bands coming from Armenia, India Azerbaijan, Netherlands, Slovakia and Greece competed in different halls in Tehran during the event, which ran from February 21 to 27.

The 5th Fajr International Poetry Festival was brought to a close here on Tuesday at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall, where the winners received their awards from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini, Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for Cultural Affairs, Bahman Dorri, Iranian Academy of Arts (IAA) Director, Ali Mo’allem Damghani, and a group of Iranian and foreign poets also took part in the ceremony. Ahmadinejad regarded poetry as the common language of human beings and manifestation of an effort to depict mankind.

 
100-Second Film Festival announces winners

The International 100-Second Film Festival announced winners during the closing ceremony.

The event was held on Friday at the Andisheh Hall of Tehran’s Art Bureau and several cineastes and officials attended the ceremony.

Fajr visual arts festival

The 3rd Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts wrapped up on Friday at Vahdat Hall in which a group of Iranian veterans were honored by receiving Fajr top medals.

The award-giving ceremony was held with the participation of Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini, Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi, and a group of veterans.

 
7th animation Festival

Artists from more than 60 countries are set to take part in the 7th edition of Tehran International Animation Festival in the Iranian capital.
“Animators from 66 countries will participate in this year's event which will be held from March 6 to 10, 2011,” head of Iran's Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults Seyyed Reza Sadeqi told reporters.

According to the festival director Mohammad-Reza Karimi-Saremi, some 830 Iranian productions have been submitted to the event from which 91 films will take part in the national competition section.

Some 181 animations will also participate in this year's international competition section, he added.

Asghar Farhadi's Nader and Simin: A Separation dominated this year's list of winners receiving awards in most of the major categories.

Iran theater festival winners

The 29th edition of Iran's Fajr International Theater Festival has announced winners during a ceremony held in the capital city of Tehran.


Winners of the national and international competition sections were awarded at the Vahdat Hall on Sunday, February 20, 2011.

The Grand Prize of the event went to Pandora 88, a duologue by German stage director Andrew Dawson.

14th Int'l Storytelling Festival

Eleven foreign storytellers from 9 countries as well as 24 teachers of Institute of Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) and five other Iranian storytellers will attend the 14th Int'l IIDCYA Storytelling Festival. The festival will kick off on February 19 in Bandar Abbas.

The Iranian storytellers have been chosen from provincial and regional contests while the foreign storytellers were selected from the nominees by a group of experts.

According to the festival's secretary Morteza Heidari, 1059 storytellers participated in the national storytelling contests and as 30 provincial festivals concluded, 171 storytellers attended the regional competitions.

 
First Fair of Precious Books & Manuscripts

The first fair accommodating works of 1st Festival of Precious Books and Manuscripts opened in five sections yesterday, February 12.

The ceremony was attended by artists and art and literature professors. Firstly the secretary of the Precious Books Festival Mahmoud Esmaeeli said:" Holding the Festival of Precious Books and Manuscripts is among the programs of the National Library and Archives which kicked off with the cooperation of UNESCO, the cultural deputy of Islamic Guidance and Guidance Ministry and the Academy of Arts.

He added:" The festival and the fair, which houses 540 works, are held in order to bestow identification to precious books in the print industry. However the word "Precious" is used

 
Fajr filmfest- intl.section winners

The 29th edition of Iran's Fajr Film Festival has announced its winners during a ceremony held in the capital city of Tehran.

Lola by Brillante Mendoza from the Philippines won the Best Film Award of this year's International Competition section.

Iranian filmmaker Vahid Mousaian's Golchehreh won the especial award of the Inter-Religion category dedicated to films with religious themes.
