Tehran is hosting the fifth nationwide exquisite Persian carpet festival to bring different types of Persian carpets under one roof for all to marvel at.

The festival, aimed at introducing Iranian culture, is being held in Tehran's Sa'ad Abad Cultural Complex from July 6 through July 16.

"The main goal of the festival is to display the pure culture and the nomads and showcase the unique collection of Persian carpets," Mohammad Akbari, the organizer of the festival, told Press TV on

Thursday.

The ten-day festival brings together local carpet weavers as well.

Visitors will get a chance to see tribal and nomadic tents and take part in Kilim and carpet weaving workshops.

Iran exports carpets to more than 100 countries in the world.

Carpet-weaving is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished manifestations of Persian culture and art, and dates back to ancient Persia.

There is an estimated population of 1.2 million weavers in Iran producing carpets for domestic markets and international export.
